Acceptable use policy
Last updated
poun hosts public pages and forms for many companies, so one misuse can hurt everyone. This policy is part of our terms of service and applies to everything published or collected with poun.
The short version
- Don't use poun for anything illegal, deceptive or harmful.
- Never use a form to ask for passwords or card numbers, or to pretend to be someone else.
- Only email people who asked to hear from you.
- Only point uptime monitors at systems you run or are allowed to check.
- Report abuse or copyright problems to us and we'll act on them.
This summary helps you find your way. The full text below is what applies.
1. What's not allowed
Don’t use poun to publish, collect, send or link to anything that:
- is illegal where you are, where we are, or where the people reading it are;
- sexually exploits or endangers children, in any form (we report it to the authorities);
- promotes or threatens violence, terrorism or self-harm;
- harasses, bullies, or discriminates against people for who they are;
- shares someone’s private information without their permission;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
- contains malware, or links to it;
- is fraudulent or deliberately misleading, including fake status updates meant to deceive.
2. Forms
- No phishing: never ask for passwords, sign-in codes or recovery codes, and never imitate another company or its sign-in page.
- Don’t collect full payment card numbers or bank details. Use a payment provider for payments.
- Only collect government ID numbers, health data or other sensitive data where the law allows it, the people answering know why, and you’ve told us first.
- Say who you are on every form, and link to your privacy policy when you collect personal data.
3. Email and subscribers
- Only add people who asked to hear from you. Don’t import bought, rented or scraped lists. Every new subscriber confirms by email before they receive anything.
- Keep email on topic: status page emails are for incidents and maintenance, and feedback emails are for the requests people voted on. They aren’t for marketing.
- Never hide or remove the unsubscribe link, or keep emailing someone who has unsubscribed.
4. Uptime monitors
Only monitor websites and services that you run or have permission to check. Monitors aren’t for load testing, scanning or flooding anyone else’s systems.
5. Respecting the service
- Don’t try to get around plan limits, bot protection or rate limits.
- Don’t access other workspaces or data that isn’t yours, or try to.
- Don’t overload, disrupt or interfere with poun or the people using it.
- Don’t resell poun or use it to build a competing service.
- Don’t create accounts automatically, or in bulk, or to get around a suspension.
6. Reporting security problems
If you find a vulnerability, please tell us at [contact email] before telling anyone else, and give us reasonable time to fix it. Test only against your own workspace and don’t access, change or delete anyone else’s data. If you follow these rules in good faith, we won’t take legal action against you for your research.
7. What we do about breaches
Depending on how serious it is, we may warn you, remove content, pause a feature such as sending email, or suspend or close the workspace. For serious harm, such as phishing, malware or child abuse material, we act immediately and without warning, and may report it to the authorities. If you think we’ve got it wrong, reply to our message and a person will look again.
8. Reporting abuse
If you see a poun page or form that breaks this policy, email [contact email] with the link and what’s wrong with it. We read every report and won’t tell the page owner who reported them.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on poun infringes your copyright, send a notice to [contact email] or by post to [legal name of the business], [postal address], including:
- your name, address, phone number and email;
- the work you believe is infringed;
- the link to the material on poun;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised by you, your agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the copyright or are allowed to act for its owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We’ll remove or disable the material and tell the person who posted it. If they believe it was removed by mistake, they can send us a counter-notice with the same details. We may then restore it unless you tell us you’ve started legal action. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
